World Upholstered builds on the success of the award-winning Diffrient World and World LM, which has received recognition from Red Dot Design Award, Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture Good Design Award, Interior Design Best of Year Award, and more. World Upholstered and World LM Upholstered feature the same advanced ergonomic design, now with the added comfort of an upholstered seat.
World LM, formerly known as World One, meets the strong demand for expanded aesthetic options in high-quality, supremely comfortable task chairs. The chair now comes with an upholstered seat available in 13 Corde 4 and 14 Kvadrat Autumn colors, and an upgrade to Catena Mesh, which is available in 5 colors. These new options, which provide users and specifiers with broader design opportunities, come standard with the new World LM Upholstered chair.
Designed by renowned industrial designer Niels Diffrient, World Upholstered and World LM Upholstered retain the innovative tri-panel mesh backrest and weight-sensitive recline system that made the Diffrient World a hallmark of ergonomic design. The chair’s intuitive recline mechanism utilizes physics and to the user’s body weight to provide automatic support without the need to adjust knobs or levers. Additionally, the seat’s backrest is comprised of Humanscale’s patented Form Sensing Mesh, which takes on the exact shape of the sitter’s back, creating a personalized fit, inspired by bespoke clothing design. The World Upholstered collection also features dynamic armrests that move with the user to maintain a custom fit throughout the day, delivering superior comfort and flexibility.
Like the brand’s entire suite of task chairs, World Upholstered is designed with a focus on simplicity, durability, and sustainability. This chair is made with only 78 parts, as opposed to 200+ for average task chairs, ensuring a longer lifespan, fewer repairs, and an extended lifecycle. Additionally, World Upholstered utilizes a clean gas cylinder, which is cleaner and more reliable than typical greased cylinders, protecting both the user and the chair for its entire lifespan.
Now offered with a fully upholstered seat, World Upholstered and World LM Upholstered are available in several Kvadrat textile options, offering a wide array of colors and textures. This extension to the renowned World line of task chairs provides both designers and consumers alike with increased options. World Upholstered and World LM Upholstered promote elevated aesthetics for commercial use, and warmer aesthetics for residential use, without sacrificing Humanscale’s best-in-class ergonomics.
