In 2024, Humanscale earned B Corp certification, reinforcing its longstanding leadership in sustainability and recognizing its commitment to planet positive manufacturing.
Humanscale leads the charge as the only major brand in the commercial furniture industry in the US to be B Corp certified and joins the ranks of major brands like Patagonia, Aesop, and Allbirds.

Achieving B Corp Certification demonstrates our company's commitment to social and environmental responsibility. B Lab, a non-profit organization, rigorously assesses businesses across five Impact Area pillars: governance, workers, community, environment, and customer impact.

To earn B Corp status, companies must meet high standards in these areas, make a legal commitment to stakeholder governance, and maintain transparency
by publicly disclosing their B Impact Assessment (BIA) results. This comprehensive process ensures B Corps are held accountable for their social and environmental efforts.

In 2021, B Lab experienced the highest demand for
the B Corp Certification in the organization’s history, with 3,500 applications from businesses looking to join the global community, yet only about 40% of B Corp certification applications are successful, according
to B Lab. This prestigious certification signifies a commitment that goes beyond traditional business.
B Corps aim to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability through measures like reducing energy consumption, minimizing waste, responsibly sourcing materials, and supporting conservation efforts.
B Corps prioritize employee well-being by offering fair wages and benefits, fostering a safe and inclusive workplace culture, and providing opportunities for professional development and advancement.
B Corps actively support their local communities through volunteering, charitable giving, and implementing programs to address social or environmental challenges.
B Corps maintain transparent and accountable governance structures, emphasizing integrity, accountability, and ethical decision-making.
B Corps strive to offer customers value beyond their products or services by providing items with positive social or environmental impacts, exceptional customer service, and transparent business practices and values.
It is our hope that Humanscale’s certification will encourage other companies to follow suit in making a real, positive difference for the future of our planet.
